This project involved the conceptual design and development of a temporary refuge space for a sit-in protestor on the steps of Robson Square in Vancouver, BC. This project consisted of hand-drafting and model-building.
In order to connect more deeply with this project, I created a character story for it, integrating structural elements that both evoked and complemented the natural world, as befit the passionate, artistic, nature-loving character for whom I was designing this space. I took heavy inspiration from the form and details of an armadillo's shell and endeavored to use sustainable and/or recycled materials. For example, I specified the use of cork for the "shell" pieces and translucent wood for some of the windows, cotton for others.

This project was very successful; the design made sense with the brief and the execution matched with the original ideation process. Creating a more fleshed-out character for the user profile was incredibly beneficial and helpful to the development and design of this space.
